SERIOUS update

Wow. I cannot believe so much time has passed since posting an update. Thank you DANNI for posting a comment, which in turn reminded me to post. I'm somewhat of an O.C.D. person, wanting to catch up on all the blogs I subscribe to BEFORE I post, but, here it goes.

My little one is now 9 months old. It was a hard adjustment for my 2 teenagers to accept I was having another child. I knew it would not be a good idea to FORCE FEED my pregnancy on my kids, so I went along with my days as though nothing was changing. Of course my belly was growing, but I did not make a huge deal about my pregnancy in front of my teenagers (they took they news as if the world was ending). If they asked my any questions about whether or not I could feel the baby moving, or to see the sonogram photos, I obliged, otherwise we went about our day as normal.

I worked up until the very last day of my pregancy. It was Sept 23rd, and I was driving home from work on my way to pick up the kids from high school. Halfway there my water broke. This was the first time this had happened to me. I wasn't sure what was going on, mainly in part because I expected it to be like in the movies. Far from it. It was slow and uneventful for many hours. Our bundle of joy FINALLY decided to grace us with his presence at 4 am the next day. OH JOY - haha!

He was the textbook baby for 2 or 3 weeks - asleep for 2 hours, wake up for feeding, repeat. Then for some reason he decided the world was a much more interesting place, and Mr. A.D.D. came out - LOL! The kids now ADORE this child! My son, who was my baby before, would avoid anything and everything that had to do with the baby before. It broke my heart. He would stay in his room and even move as close to the walls as possible to avoid contact with me and the baby in the hallway. Fast-forward to today: the kids can't stop playing with the baby.

  1. OMG What a perfectly adorable baby boy. I want to pick him up and hug him close and pinch his little cheeks.

It is hard though for teens especially those that were the baby to except a new little face in the family. I am glad they have both come to love and adore him though.

I remember my son was 2 1/2 when my daughter was born. When I brought her home he looked at her and then me and with a scowl said take it back. I had to laugh because there was no way she was going back where she came from lol.

  3. Hello!
I wanted to come by your blog, and personally thank you for the kind comment you left about my poem "The Body War." I responded to you more fully on my blog,so please feel free to read my reply when you get the chance.

No different than you,I've been away from Blogger for more time than I intended. I guess we can chalk it up to being happily involved in other remarkable activities, right? :) Congrats on the cute addition to your family;the boy is ADORABLE! I am working towards a teaching certificate right now, and children always melt my heart. :)

I look forward to reading more of your work in the future!
